Function
This is a silicone-based softener that gives a smoother, more supple handle than a conventional fatty softener. It forms a flexible film around each fibre rather than just where fibres touch, which is what makes the handle feel silkier. It also improves needle glide in sewing and helps the fabric hold its tear strength better than a heavier softener film would.
Typical applications and what it solves
- Harsh or heavy handle where a conventional softener isn't giving enough improvement
- Poor sewing-needle glide or seam pucker in garment manufacture
- Finishes that need a lighter touch to preserve fabric breathability
